Mount Nebo is a gospel-centered organization focused on building life-giving mentor-mentee relationships with underserved children.
Mount Nebo exists to bring Gospel-centered community development and mentorship to under-resourced communities. Our vision is to see those we serve equipped in relational community and lifestyle management. We accomplish our vision through mentorship, programming, and discipleship.
COME SEE IT FOR YOURSELF. We'd love to host you on a Thursday night. Give us a shout to set it up!
Our consistent core program that occurs separately in each community every Thursday that is open to any resident, primarily ages 2-18. We play outdoors, have "family dinner," read a bible story, do activities, and have a dance party. This program catalyzes relationships through individual community engagement and through the color groups that meet during this time.
Our three day a week after school program that promotes homework help, STEM learning, fine arts, cooking, and other life skills gives our communities a safe place to go after school and a venue through which to dream big for their own futures.
This is our bible study night for the teen girls in each community. Every week, we gather with these girls outside of our regular Base Camp programming for a more focused and intentional time. We seek to love on each of these girls during this time, but first and foremost strive to teach them who Jesus is, what he has done for us, and what the amazing hope is that the gospel offers.
Morgan Benoit is joining Mount Nebo’s staff as our new Regional Director of Austin. She has served as a community leader, tutor, color group leader, and volunteer at Georgian Manor.
Here are some questions we asked Morgan so you could get to know her better:
In short, I work with Mount Nebo because God calls us to care for the under-resourced — even those who are right in our backyards — and because I’ve seen first hand the mighty works He is accomplishing through singing songs, playing games, and sharing a hot meal with these kids. There is no place on Earth I would rather be!
What is your ideal Saturday?
I don’t have any specifics in mind but I would be with the friends I love playing Hot Seat or something the whole day! Maybe we could also go swimming or to Chick-fil-A too?
If you could only have one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
TexMex for sure! Chips & Guac all day everyday!
What’s your biggest goal for Nebo this year?
My biggest goal for Mount Nebo this year would be to foster better relationships and friendships among the volunteer staff. I would love to have a better sense of family amongst our communities!
